At Georgia Craftsman of North Georgia, we pour our heart into every project, and our latest Trex deck in Blue Ridge is no exception. Nestled in the rolling hills of North Georgia, this deck is a testament to our commitment to precision, quality, and authenticity—values that define every board we lay and every nail we drive.
This Blue Ridge beauty spans 192 square feet, built with Trex’s low-maintenance, eco-friendly composite decking in a warm, Carmel finish that blends seamlessly with the landscape. Designed for a family who loves hosting and quiet evenings under the stars, the deck features clean lines, sturdy railings, and a layout that invites connection and relaxation. We handpicked Trex for its durability and timeless look, ensuring this outdoor space will stand up to Georgia’s seasons while keeping its charm for years to come.
We worked closely with the homeowners to bring their vision to life. From the initial sketch to the final sweep, we focused on every detail—because at GCONG, it’s not just about building a deck; it’s about crafting a space where memories are made. The result? A stunning, functional outdoor haven that feels like an extension of the home and the heart of North Georgia.

We kicked off the project by carefully removing old railroad ties from the embankment’s edge, clearing the way for sturdy footings to support the new steps. Next, we reshaped the site to make room for a solid retaining wall, then dug out the footings. The ground revealed North Georgia’s stunning shale rock, sparkling in the sunlight, which our jackhammer sliced through with ease—a reminder of the beauty and strength in the land we build on. We went a bit beyond our planned 12″x16″ footings, to allow pouring one and a half 80-pound bags of concrete per hole to ensure rock-solid stability. This not only supports the deck’s load but exceeds county code standards, giving both our team and the Blue Ridge inspector confidence in a foundation built to last. Next up: Footing inspections, stay tuned and we will have an update on this project shortly.

Great news from the site: the Blue Ridge inspector gave our footings a thumbs-up today, July 1, 2025, and we’re set to pour the concrete tomorrow morning, Wednesday, July 2. Customers are thrilled and our crew is ready to bring this foundation to life, and we’ll share photos of the pour as soon as it’s done, capturing the heart of North Georgia craftsmanship in every step.
Trex Deck Update: Footings Poured!
7/2/25

Man, what a day! We hit the ground running this morning to pour the footings for the Trex deck, and let me tell you, the heat and humidity were no joke—felt like we were working in a sauna! Big shoutout to our awesome customers who went above and beyond, bailing out water from the holes after last night’s downpour. That saved us some serious time and kept the project on track.
We got the concrete poured smooth and solid, setting the foundation for this beautiful deck. Before heading back to Jasper, we hung out with the customers for a bit—great folks, great vibes. Always cool to connect and share the excitement for what’s coming together. Stay tuned for the next steps as we keep building this deck! 💪
